Kone
Kone is the main town in the northern Province and has 7500 inhabitants. With the setting up of the mining site in Vavouto, the town has had a new surge of life.

The Heart of Voh
This heart-shaped natural landscape was made famous by the photographer Yann-Arthus Bertrand and is visible from the Mount Kathepaik lookout point: take the track on the left of the fire station as you leave the village. Your walk will start at the end of this track. You can also admire the heart from the sky by ULM.
Kone-Tiwaka Road
This road crosses the island from Kone to the east coast. It is one of the most beautiful roads, winding between mountains, rivers and stopping points where you can admire the magnificent landscapes from the panoramic view points.
Caujolle House
The Caujolle house is named after the surveyor, Mr Caujolle, who arrived in New Caledonia on board the ship ‘Sybille’ on 3rd February 1873. During his stay in New Caledonia he purchased several properties, including the ‘Pomenie’ estate. Prisoners were used to build this house. In 1927 the dwelling became the property of Henri Martin and was converted into a coffee production plant. It passed through several other hands before being bought by the Northern Province in 2001 when it was classified as a ‘historical monument’. Today this cultural centre hosts various artistic and cultural events and exchanges.
